Billions of years ago, over a hundred miles beneath the Earth’s surface, the unique combination of pressure and temperature resulted in the most wonderful creation of nature: diamonds.

Some of these crystals bear a fascinating feature that makes them glow in ultraviolet (UV) light. Scientists named this characteristic fluorescence.

Like a secret concealed from one’s eye, it is this phenomenal inner light that makes fluorescent diamonds so special.

Fluorescence is a hidden feature of natural diamonds. It emerges when a diamond is born.

It comes from the presence of trace elements naturally contained within a diamond during the carbon crystallization process. These trace elements—or in other words organic inclusions—make fluorescent diamonds truly unique and one of a kind.

Fluorescent diamonds glow when they interact with a UV lamp or laser with large wavelengths.

Diamonds that glow blue are a truly fascinating peculiarity. Interestingly, the blue glow also is a reliable indicator for a natural diamond.

In 99% of cases, a colorless diamond with a blue fluorescence intensity grade of Medium, Strong, or Very Strong is natural.

Fluorescence originates from inclusions in the rough diamond’s crystal structure, such as nitrogen. All these features make every fluorescent diamond even more unique and rare.

Fluorescence varies by its intensity. Levels from Medium to Very Strong give diamond a fantastic blue glow, and make it look like a genuine shining star.

Gemological laboratories consider diamond fluorescence as an identifying characteristic, not a grading factor like the Four Cs (color, clarity, cut, and carat weight). Diamond grading reports will describe a diamond’s fluorescence by its intensity level (None, Faint, Medium, Strong, and Very Strong) as it compares to the gem labs’ master stones.

The most fluorescent diamonds, ranging from Medium to Very Strong intensities, are selected for exquisite Galt & Bro. jewelry that reflects the inner glow and greatness of a woman.

Scientific researches state that fluorescence improves diamond’s appearance. Diamonds with yellow tint and strong fluorescence look brighter in the sunlight – thanks to a neutralizing inner blue glow.

We are true believers in the power of the inner light. We praise the natural phenomenon of glow, and select diamonds with the highest fluorescence intensities from Medium to Very Strong for our jewelry collection.

Each of these gems becomes part of a gorgeous piece of jewelry, deepens its beauty, and reflects the inner glow and the energy of its owner like nothing else.
